DURANGO, CO - The 2018 Demon's softball team continued to work hard this season. The team registered a 10-13 overall record and 0-8 5A/4A Southwestern League mark, finishing 5th in the league and taking 1st place in the Sheridan tournament.
A major highlight for the season came when the team took 1st place in the Sheridan tournament in Denver after playing a tough game against Eagle Valley. The team brought more than a trophy back to Durango High School. This tournament brought a new level of confidence to the program that helped the team compete throughout the season.
Durango Softball took home the W on Senior Night in a great game against rival Montezuma-Cortez High School winning 17-6. The Demons displayed strong performances at the plate backing senior pitcher Morgan Allen on defense. It was a night of competition and celebration as the seniors walked the bases for the last time in their high school careers.

Senior Virginia Herr finished her senior season making First Team All-Conference due to her stellar performance as a catcher and 3rd baseman. Virginia had a batting average of .613 with 20 RBIs, 19 runs, and 2 HRs on the season. Her positive outlook and focus on the field helped drive the Demons strong season.
Senior Autumn Rymerson made Second Team All-Conference as a center fielder for the Demons. Autumn finished with a batting average of .571 bringing in 43 runs, 32 RBIs, and 3 HRs. She lead the team with a positive attitude and passion for the game.
The Lady Demons bid farewell to a senior class that led the program to new heights and successes. Thank you Morgan Allen, Mikayla Barnes, Virginia Herr, Morgan Martinez, and Autumn Rymerson for your dedication to the Durango High School Softball Program. We will miss you and wish you luck in your next endeavors.

The growth of the softball program the past few years was major this season with a roster of 26 ladies between the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams. With 21 returners, the 2019 season looks like it will be strong. The upperclassmen to look out for next season include Emma Candelaria, Lily Longan, and Tori RaybournThese athletes will shine as leaders on and off the team for the next few years.
The softball program carries several multi-sport athletes, so we are excited to support these players in their other sports. In the summer, we will begin pre-season and continue to work hard in maintaining a positive culture within our softball program. We are excited to move forward with a group of ladies that are committed to working hard and improving as a team.
We cannot wait to get back on the field for another great year of Demon softball.
Welcome to the 2018-19 Durango Demon Softball Team!
